Grant Awarded to AccessHealth for Medical Legal Partnership

MAY 3, 2024–AccessHealth is proud to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to further its mission of addressing the intersecting needs of healthcare and legal assistance. This grant represents a significant step forward for AccessHealth's Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) Outreach program in Fort Bend County.

Recognizing the profound impact of social determinants on health outcomes, AccessHealth has long been committed to tackling issues such as food insecurity, transportation barriers, and legal challenges that affect patient well-being. By establishing a Medical-Legal Partnership, AccessHealth aims to provide holistic support to its patients, addressing not only medical needs but also legal issues that can exacerbate health problems.

The grant from the Texas Bar Foundation will specifically support AccessHealth in expanding its MLP initiative by integrating a lawyer in the organization.

This funding will significantly enhance the availability of high-quality legal services and referrals for low-income individuals accessing healthcare through AccessHealth. By addressing health-harming legal needs, the organization aims to improve overall health outcomes and enhance the well-being of the community it serves.

Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $27 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation's largest charitably funded bar foundation.
