Charissa was born and raised in Houston, Texas, but lived in New Orleans, Louisisana while earning her undergraduate degree from Dillard University. She completed her Master's degree from the University of Houston. She pursued her LPC license and Counseling Supervisor certificate with the State of Texas's Licensing Board of Professional Counselors. Since 2004, Charissa has served in various roles for the mental health and social service fields. Charissa is a member of the Texas Counseling Association, ACU JEDI Committee, and pledged with the first Africa-American Sorority in the U.S. Charissa enjoys therapeutic interventions and education targeting trauma, depression, empowerment, and women's issues. Charissa is married and enjoying the never-ending adventures of being a mom, likes decorating for events, eating good food, and listening to live music.
